Votive Candles

  • Votives must be burned in a proper-fitting votive holder.
  • If they are lit without being in a votive holder the wax will burn down and melt quickly.

Pillar Candles

  • Since Orchard Harvest pillar candles are made of Palm Wax and Vegetable oils you will notice a different melting pattern when the candle melts and burns down. It is very unique and interesting to watch.
  • We have noticed that some areas on the sides of the candle will become thinner as it burns and some areas will stay thicker. This is just how the wax burns down.
  • If thicker and thinner areas occur, extinguish the candle and carefully trim off and smooth out the uneven areas on the top of the candle. This will create a more uniform look. Then relight the candle and you're good to go again.
  • We recommend that you burn pillar candles on a flat pillar base that is 1.5 to 2 inches wider than the actual base of the candle. This is to prevent wax from spilling.
  • All natural soy and palm wax candles have a different consistency and melt differently than paraffin candles.

Crystalline (Natural Palm Wax) Pillar Candles

  • Our scented and unscented pillar candles are made from all natural crystalline Palm Wax. The palm oil is heated to a certain temperature and allowed to cool slowly. This is what produces the wonderful crystal and marbelized effects.
  • When lighting a candle for the first time, burn until the wax pool reaches no less than 1/4" from the candle's edge. This will take approximately 2-4 hours and help to prevent leaking by building a strong shell around the candle's edges. Then immediately extinguish the flame and allow candle to harden before relighting. If you do not allow the candle to burn to the edge on the first burn, you will have created a "tunnel" and, chances are, your candle will continue to burn in this pattern.
  • For best results, burn the candle at a minimum of one hour per inch diameter at a time.

NOTE:

If your candle begins to leak wax and spills over your candle plate, you can either scrape it off after it hardens (assuming the surface won't be damaged) or use a blow dryer, set on LOW, to melt the wax. Then just wipe it up with warm soapy water!
